Dermal filler

Dermal fillers are used to replace lost volume under the skin to help lift wrinkles and smooth lines.

They can also boost the skin’s elasticity and improve the shape and contour of your face.

One of the most significant benefits of using hyaluronic acid underneath the skin is its ability to help boost the skin’s collagen. All of the fillers used at Efface Clinic are premium products and approved hyaluronic acid-based fillers. This means that they are non-permanent but long-lasting.

Frequently asked questions

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels made from hyaluronic acid. They are used to restore lost volume, smooth wrinkles, and enhance facial contours for a more youthful appearance.

What should I do before my treatment?

  • All make-up will need to be removed before treatment.
  • Alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners and a range of dietary supplements including; St. Johns Wort, fish oils, Gingko Biloba, and vitamins C and E may all contribute to bruising and are best avoided 24 hours before treatment.
  • If you are prescribed blood thinners (anti-coagulants), please continue on these and treatment will need to be assessed on individual merits to ensure safety.
  • Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection, including acne or cold sores or if you are unwell- including colds, coughs, sore throats, viral illnesses or other illnesses.

Is there any downtime after dermal filler treatment?

Downtime after dermal filler treatment is minimal for most individuals, and you can typically resume your normal activities immediately afterward. However, some mild swelling or bruising may occur, so it’s best to plan accordingly.

Can dermal fillers be reversed if I'm unhappy with the results?

Yes, hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you’re unhappy with the results or experience complications. However, this is rare, and our clinicians will work closely with you to ensure your satisfaction with your treatment.
